Felino Bel made it two 2yo winners this week for Team Guy when debuting in a 2yo Open Handicap at Grafton today. The daughter of Bel Espirit began well from the barriers to work across into a handy position before settling off the speed until jockey Glen Colless asked her for an effort at the top of the straight and she responded in fine style to win by just under one and a half lengths. Co Trainer Bryan Guy explained after the race that he went into today’s event full of confidence after recent jump outs and a barrier trial “Her unofficial jump out was great and the best part about it was she improved in her trial when she went around the outside fence and finished off great behind her stable mate which also won on debut on Wednesday at the Gold Coast. I told the owners Bill and Lyn Bain that I thought that she showed ability from day one so to get to the races at her first prep and win is a big effort and shows she has a future”

Winning jockey Glen Colless was also pleased with the win saying “I rode her in her first jump out and she was impressive considering she did a few things wrong but today was better and there is still more to come considering she was green in the straight”

Co trainer Daniel Guy explained it had been a good week for the stables 2yo’s with both Felino Bel and Wednesday’s winner Junction “The location of our stable has played a big part in both Wednesday’s result and today’s as we were able to split both horses up with the Queensland bred horse winning the Qtis bonus on Wednesday and Felino Bel taking advantage of the great prize money on offer in NSW so both sets of owners have more to celebrate”.
