Consistent mare Angela’s Beauty broke a frustrating run of minor placing’s today at Ipswich in winning the Drummonds Security Services Benchmark 62 Handicap over 2200 metres. The daughter of Daliapour has finished in the first four placing’s at her last five starts and came into today’s event as the form horse of the race. Drawing barrier seven jockey Jim Byrne made an early decision to roll forward which enabled the mare to take up a handy position out of trouble and from that point the race looked well in her keeping.
Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy was a relieved man after the event explaining that things just haven’t gone the mares way this preparation although her record has been good “She probably should have won a race or two before this one today but she has just lacked that ounce of luck. She hasn’t been beaten far at her last couple but you just wonder will the luck change and she can get the money, anyway that’s all behind us now. It’s also great for the Ikin family who own the mare as todays win goes down as a midweek metropolitan meeting when they retire the mare to the breeding barn.”
Angela’s Beauty was ridden by Jim Byrne in today’s event and his previous ride on the filly paved the way for today’s win “I rode her last start and couldn’t get going when I wanted to and I said to Bryan and Dan that if I ride her again it will be a different story and thankfully it all worked out. She still needs to learn to settle early in a race but that will come with time, overall it was tough win, she raced on the speed made a long run and held them off.”
Angela’s Beauty is raced by the Ikin Family whom are relatively new clients to the Guy Stable and Co Trainer Daniel Guy was thankful for their ongoing support “Steve and Mandi have been clients of the stable for a little over twelve months now and Angela’s Beauty was the first horse they sent us to train so it’s great to win another race for them today. It’s always nice to get a new horse and clients to the stable and make it a winning experience and given the nature of today’s win I am sure another visit to the winners circle is just around the corner”
