Super Kids headed to Aquis Park at the Gold Coast Turf Club today at the crossroads after two moderate efforts from his first two race starts, but these efforts were a distant memory with the addition of a tongue tie and a bold front running ride from jockey Glen Colless. The son of Duporth raced to the front upon jumping and travelled strongly to take out the Bisley Maiden Plate over 1350m by half a length.
Co Trainer Bryan Guy was thrilled to train another winner for long time stable client Stanley Chan who has been a client of the stable since the early 1990’s “I am so happy for Mr Chan he has been a great supporter of our stable for a long time now. He asked me to buy two Duporth’s for him and this is one of them and the other one is going to Hong Kong. The best part about today’s result is the way he has turned his form around with the recent gear change, he has had a couple of gallops in the tongue tie and Kris our track work rider said they have been his best gallops so today’s result is not a total surprise.”
Super Kids was ridden for the first time today by Glen Colless who initially thought that the gelding would be ridden off the speed until a pre race discussion with Co Trainer’s Bryan and Daniel Guy “I came out thinking he would be ridden off the speed but both Bryan and Daniel believed that he would be best suited to leading so I bounced him out and sent him straight to the front and to his credit he kept fighting all the way to the line.”
Today’s win capped off another recent long priced winner for Team Guy with Co Trainer Daniel Guy thankful that the horses don’t read the form guide “That’s our second big price winner in a little over a week and really we can’t understand why these horses have been these prices given they have had excuses at recent starts, anyway thank god they don’t read the Saturday morning papers”
