Accessory brought up a double today for Team Guy when he took out the TAB Class One Handicap over 1700 metres at Ipswich by just under a length. The son of Epaulette settled midfield in running before he was asked to make a race winning move at around the six hundred metre mark and the move proved to be the difference between winning or losing as he was able to get the majority of his rivals off the bit and they were unable to chase him down.

Bryan Guy who Co Trains with his son Daniel explained after the event that Accessory has always shown above average ability but for one reason or another he has only won the one race previously “We have always thought a bit of this horse but it’s just been a matter of figuring him out and I think we are getting to know what is best and what’s not the best for him. He just grinds away in his races so we wanted him on the outside in running and to get going at around the six hundred and make the others chase him and that’s exactly what he did, he was strong on the line and I think ridden like this he will go further.”

Jockey Mark Du Plessis was happy to see the real Accessory stand up today with a strong and dominant performance “I rode him last start and gave him the softest run possible and he did very little but today was a different story, both Bryan and Daniel wanted me to get going on him early today and he was a different horse. I actually thought I may have gone a bit too early but he showed good fight up the straight and he should win more races on that effort.”

Co Trainer Daniel Guy was full of praise for the ride saying that you couldn’t get much better in terms of following instructions “We told Mark that we wanted him one off in running and then to get going on him which would make it tough for the opposition to run him down and he rode him perfect. He is a horse that doesn’t have a great turn of foot but will grind away all day. Hopefully for the owners he can take confidence from today’s win and go on with it now as we know he has the ability.”
