Well bred Three Year old Rebel Salute broke his maiden today at Ipswich at his third start in taking out the Ray White Ipswich Qtis Three Year Old Maiden Plate over 1350 metres. The son of Deep Field settled in the second half of the field before making a race-winning move at the six hundred metre mark with the gelding proving too strong for his rivals with a determined finish to claim victory in a photo finish. He had recently put the writing on the wall going down by a tight margin at his previous start at Doomben.

Winning Co-Trainer Bryan Guy went into today’s event with an air of confidence on Rebel Salute’s first two race starts explaining after the event that he thought the only reason he was still a maiden before today’s race was that the pace of races had been against him “We thought he could win his first start and he was left in front which is not what we wanted, then at his last start he was left in front again due to the slow pace so with good early speed today we finally got to ride him off the speed and it made a big difference, he is a nice horse which should win more races.”

Ryan Maloney was having his second ride on the gelding today and the experience of his first ride certainly told as he was able to settle off the speed and produce him approaching the top of the straight to give the horse an unimpeded run to the finish line to claim victory “I don’t mind this horse as he has no idea what he is doing at the moment and when the penny drops I think he will make a nice horse. Bryan and Daniel believe that he will be suited over a bit further and going on today’s run I can’t disagree.”

Rebel Salute continued the good run that Team Guy and Orbis Bloodstock are having since the client arrived at the stable and Co Trainer Daniel Guy commented on the great early start to the partnership and the quality of the stock that has been sent to the stable “It’s been a great start for the stable and Orbis Bloodstock and it’s good to keep it ticking along. They have invested heavily in the industry so they deserve all the success they have.”
