The breeding barn has been put on hold for today’s Aquis Park at the Gold Coast Turf Club winner Pythia after an impressive win for the well-bred daughter of Not A Single Doubt. Pythia was having her second start today for the Guy Stable after being sent north by her owners and the move has proved to be a good decision as she was able to break her maiden in good style and the win indicated that there could be more wins around the corner.

Co Trainer Bryan Guy was not surprised to see the mare win the way that she did although her race record was only average up to today’s race “I thought she could win today on her work because it has been great but the owner told me that she has been a good worker all her life so that had me a little worried. Maybe the change of environment and a few little gear changes have seen her turn the corner and hopefully she can put a few together and repay the owners for their faith in the filly”

Travis Wolfgram who rode the mare explained after the race that plan A went out the door after the barriers opened and she settled back further then expected and thankfully plan B worked out and the mare was able to get all the right runs “Bryan and Daniel wanted her fifth or sixth and then have her come down the outside and I pretty much did the complete opposite as she was slow to begin and I was forced to ride her for luck and I felt a long way out if she got the right runs she would win as she travelled so well. It was a nice win and I think she has more wins in her”

Pythia is owned by the Bain family who recently brought out their partners in the mare with the idea of sending her to stud but were willing to give her one final chance to win a race so she was sent north to Team Guy to see if they could get that elusive win and thankfully this was able to happen today and Co Trainer Daniel Guy thanked them for their support “It’s always great to get a nice client to the stable and to have a bit of luck for them this quick makes it all the better. Bob and Sue deserve this win as they have been very patient with the mare and thankfully they now have a well bred winning mare to put to stud, hopefully we can now get a few more wins on the board for them.”
