I Am Swerving headed to Doomben today looking to bounce back to winning form and the son of I Am Invincible didn’t disappoint with a hard fought victory in the TAB Create You Spring Calendar Of Play QTIS Three Year Old Benchmark 70 Handicap. The gelding began well and took up the early running and while being headed at about the furlong pole he dug deep to fight off his rivals and score a strong victory and continued the good run that Team Guy are enjoying at the moment.

Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy explained after the event that the gelding had not enjoyed the best luck with barrier’s since moving to Queensland and given better luck with the draws he could have scored at least one more victory “He has had no luck with barriers, even today he was one from the outside and while it was a good ride from Sheriden Tomlinson we believe that’s probably not the way to ride him. I think he is a better chaser and that was shown today when that horse went past him he got going and was the strongest horse on the line.”

Jockey Sheriden Tomlinson was having his first ride on the horse today and was full of praise for the tenacity that the horse showed after being headed in the straight “Bryan and Daniel told me before the race that they believed the horse is a better chaser but they were worried how the race would pan out and that I would probably lead or sit outside the leader which was not ideal but I pushed on after beginning well and I always thought he had more to give and when the second horse headed me I was always confident he would fight back and win the race and thankfully it worked out that way. He is a nice horse who is still learning what it is all about so I can’t see why he won’t win more races.”

I Am Swerving continued the good run that Team Guy are enjoying at the moment and Co Trainer Daniel Guy was quick to thank the owners of not only I Am Swerving but also their entire client base “We have been enjoying a good run of late and it’s been a good start to the season and we have to thank not only Orbis Bloodstock which own today’s winner but all our clients without their continued support we wouldn’t be winning races. I also have to thank the staff for the work that gets done back at the stables which enables us to stand in the winners stall on race day.”
