Rebel Salute headed to the Sunshine Coast today looking to improve on his good first preparation and he didn’t let his supporters down with a strong first up performance. The well-bred son of Deep Field put the writing on the wall with two recent barrier trials, which were a good indication that the gelding was ready for a forward showing albeit short of his best distance. Although the gelding was a Class One horse going into today’s Class Two race the rise in class mattered little and shows that bigger things lay ahead.

Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy has always had a high opinion of Rebel Salute and feels that the gelding has a good future “I have liked this horse from the first day he walked into the stable and his first prep was much better then it looked on paper. He won one race but it could have been three and the form to come out of his races has been very good. Hopefully he can go on with it now and go through his grades.”

Rebel Salute was ridden by jockey Ben Thompson who was having his first ride on the horse and was impressed with the way he raced and the feel that he gave him “He is a nice horse and gave me the feeling of a progressive type which will go through his grades. Also it’s great to ride another winner for Orbis Bloodstock they are great supporters of Team Guy and the Queensland Racing Industry and they deserve all the success they get.”

Team Guy have been enjoying success of late at the Sunshine Coast and today’s winner was the Third consecutive Sunday they have tasted success at the track and Co Trainer Daniel Guy explained why this has been the case “That’s our Third consecutive winner over the last Three Sunday’s here at the Sunshine Coast and they have all been owned by the stables biggest client Orbis Bloodstock. We have been bringing some nice horses here to have their early runs and use this as a spring board to taking them to mid week metro or Saturday metro and it’s working at the moment so hopefully it can continue”.
