Consistent galloper Brook Hill finally shook off the non winner tag today at Aquis Park at the Gold Coast Turf Club when he took out the Lucky Clover Thoroughbreds Benchmark 62 Handicap over 1400m. The son of Hinchinbrook has been consistent but often lacked luck in running since joining Team Guy but that changed today when the gelding sat off the speed and let down with a good turn of foot to win by just under a length and breaking the class record in the process.

Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy was happy to see the horse finally break through for the stable after not having much luck in his races since joining the stable “That was an overdue win and more then deserved. He has looked very unlucky on a few occasions and even his last run he was held up but today Chris with the knowledge of last start was able to get free running in the straight and that was the difference. It was a great ride by Chris and it was good to see not only the horse get a win but Chris also as his rides all day for the stable have been great.”

Winning rider Chris Whiteley finished the day on the right side of the ledger after filling the minor placing’s on a couple of Team Guy horses early in the day with a vintage Whiteley Gold Coast ride, stalking the speed and then producing the horse at just the right time to run away with a win “He was strong today after not having much luck last start, I thought he was one of my better rides on paper and the plan was to just keep him out of trouble and let him do the rest and thankfully it worked out perfectly.”

Brook Hill is owned by Hong Kong based clients Daniel Chong and Henry Chan and Co Trainer Daniel Guy thanked them for their support and also lamented on what might have been after stable mate Golden Artie was narrowly beaten in the 2yo Colts and Gelding’s race early in the day at Eagle Farm “It’s great to see Brook Hill finally win his first race for the stable and I am over the moon for Daniel and Henry, they are great supporters of the stable and are very good clients to train for. It was nearly a huge day for them as they own Golden Artie which ran out of his skin to just get beaten on debut so it looks like the future is bright for them and hopefully we get to enjoy many more winners with them.”
