Golden Artie secured a start in the Magic Millions Two Year Old Classic after taking out the Trapeze Artist – 1st Yearlings Selling 2022 2yo Handicap at Doomben today. The gelding went into today’s race without having much luck at his first two starts but all that became a thing of the past when he powered home to beat the short priced favourite by an ever-widening margin.

Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy has always had a big opinion of the gelding and that opinion was proven right after the horse settled just off the speed and then made a race winning move entering the straight to power home over the top of the early leader and the race favourite “I am over the moon with this win today and now earning his place in the millions in two weeks. He has shown good ability from day one and I must thank Ben Thompson on a good ride. He also has had a big opinion of the horse so hopefully he can repeat today’s effort in in two weeks time.”

Golden Artie was ridden today by jockey Ben Thompson who has had a big opinion of the son of Artie Schiller since he first sat on his back “I remember riding him in an early barrier trial and from that moment on I thought he would make a horse. I didn’t have much luck on him last start but I felt that the step up in distance would be to our advantage today and he was strong to the line. He is a very nice horse because he was still green today but put them away pretty easy and I can’t wait for two weeks time.”

Daniel Guy who Co Trains Gold Artie with his father paid special thanks to the owners who have put a great amount of faith in the stable and are now being rewarded with a runner in the main event “I have to say a big thanks to the owners, firstly they entrusted Dad and I to find them a horse and they have been very supportive of the direction we have taken with the horse albeit while not able to enter Australia due to the Covid restrictions. I also have to say a big thanks to the stable staff as they do a fantastic job and without them wins like today would be hard to come by.”
