PLANET AMERICA FIRST OUT AND FIRST HOME

Mar 25, 2017

Planet America scored a big victory today at the Gold Coast Turf Club in winning the Hearts Brewing Handicap by over 5.5 lengths. The son of All American proved far superior in the heavy conditions and he had no problems stepping to the 1800m for the first time this preparation. Bryan Guy was relieved to win the race citing that he hasn’t had the best of luck since a change in ownership “I put together a syndicate to buy the horse when the previous owners decided to sell him and not much has gone right for the new owners, there has been a couple of unlucky rides, big weights and bad barriers so I was more then happy to see the race fall away after the rain came and it really gave him a chance to show race day what he shows in his work, you never know this might have been the confidence boost the horse needed”. Winning Jockey Josh Oliver was having his first ride on the horse today and showed maturity beyond his years rating the horse perfectly and was very pleased with the effort on the horse, commenting on his return to scale “he was always travelling and I knew along way from home that they would struggle to beat him, and he still had plenty up his sleeve as I only let him coast to the line and on that I think he has more wins in him when ridden that way”

Planet America is owned by several Gold Coast Turf Club committeemen and co trainer Daniel Guy thanked them along with their fellow owners for their patience “its great to have a few Turf Club committeemen in this horse it really goes to show that they have confidence in the local product and the training facilities we have at the Coast without their support and the support of their fellow owners the local racing industry would struggle, what’s even better is this group of owners are great to train for they understand the frustrating run we have had with this horse and were rewarded for this today, hopefully he can now go on and put a couple together.”
