STABLE FAVORITE FLORIDA FELLOW RETIRES

Mar 27, 2017

Florida Fellow has run his last race today after a decision was made by Team Guy to retire the 8-year-old son of Annaba. Co Trainer Bryan Guy said of the decision “he has been a good horse for the stable and his owner and we want to do the right thing by the horse, we have found a good home for him and deserves a good life after a better than average racing career. I originally brought the horse for $80 000 as a yearling and he retires today having won 12 races and over $175 000 in prize money. If you look at his record he was a real home track specialist winning 9 of his 12 wins at the Gold Coast and also was a great horse for apprentices with 11 wins for apprentice jockey’s. In fact he was a great horse for my last apprentice Janette Johnson who had a great affinity with him as she won 9 races on him and several placing’s, so while its sad to see an old stable stalwart go at least he is going to have the life he deserves”

Florida Fellows retires a sound horse having raced every year since his 2yo debut and has never suffered any problems or injuries and this highlights the successful management by Team Guy throughout his racing career and the training facilities that are on offer at the Gold Coast Turf Club.
