QUEEN OF WANDS WINS FIRST UP FOR TEAM GUY

Jun 03, 2017

Queen Of Wands scored at her first start for Team Guy today at the Gold Coast. The daughter of Not A Single Doubt recorded an impressive Queensland Debut win when settling off the speed before producing a good turn of foot to finish over the top of her rivals with the winning margin of just under a length. The well-travelled mare was coming off a freshen up and had not raced since the first of April when finishing down the track. Winning co trainer Bryan Guy was confident of a forward showing after a nice trial just under a fortnight ago “she came up from down south with good form that had just tapered off in recent months so we tried a couple of different things with her and it looks like it has worked, she was working well going into the trial which was great, because she covered ground when finishing second and we thought that if she brought that trial form to the races then she should be hard to beat, and by the way she won I doubt it will be her last Queensland win and what can you say about the ride other then perfect Dan rode her as the best horse in the race and he got the breaks when needed”.

Queen Of Wands was ridden today by the king of the Gold Coast Daniel Griffin and he was impressed with the way the mare let down “When Bryan and Daniel gave me the instructions I was a little worried with having to get back from the one gate on a day that back markers were struggling to win but she showed a good turn of foot when I was able to get clear running, she is a nice mare who looks to have bigger and better things ahead”

Co Trainer Daniel Guy thanked the O’Shea family for sending the mare north, “its great to get another horse from down south with this mares form, and with today’s win under her belt we can now aim for a bigger race in fact we have had the Gai Waterhouse Stakes a race we have won previously earmarked for her since she walked through the gate so she is right on target and it would be nice to win this race for the O’Shea family as they are new clients to the stable”.

Queen Of Wands continues the stables good record with horses that have been sent from the southern states and Team Guy hope that this trend continues into the future.
