Sidero Star bounced back to winning form at The Gold Coast Turf Club today in fine fashion with an impressive last to first victory in the Sky Racing class two handicap. The son of Sidereus settled at the tail of the field before unleashing a powerful run from the six hundred metre point to round up his rivals mid way up the straight and then run away with what ended up being an easy victory. While Sidero Star is bred to be more of a sprinter today’s victory indicated that the three-year has a bright future as a stayer.

Winning co trainer Bryan Guy was over the moon with the way Sidero Star finished off today’s event “It was great to see him finish off the way he did today, we have had a good opinion of this horse from the first time we galloped him but it has just been a matter of waiting for the horse and the right races. This prep has been tough because of wet tracks and venue changes and what pleased me the most is that he has been a month between runs and stepped up a couple of hundred metres in distance, yet those factors had little bearing on today’s result.”

Sidero Star was ridden today by Robbie Fradd who had ridden the horse at his last start when placed fourth in an unsuitable race at Ipswich and he was more then keen to ride the horse again “I said to Bryan and Daniel after the race at Ipswich, just put him over further and he will win so I am happy to be right again. This horse has upside because he settles and knows how to finish off and that’s not all that common in a young horse and I think he has further improvement in his fitness given the month between runs.”

Co Trainer Daniel Guy thanked the owners of Sidero Star after the race “It’s always nice to get a winner but for Gil and Marie it’s always that little bit sweeter, they have been great supporters of the stable since we moved to Queensland. It might also give Gil a lift as he has not been in the best of health of late and nothing makes you feel better then a winner.”

Today’s win also continued a good run of late by the Guy Stable at the Gold Coast with the stable winning a race at the last four meetings and another one of today’s runners Sweet Adaline proved that a win is just around the corner after an impressive debut for the stable when finishing second over an unsuitable distance.
