Queen Of Wands scored an impressive victory in the Allchin Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Handicap at the Sunshine Coast yesterday. The daughter of Not A Single Doubt was slow to begin and settled towards the tail of the field some ten lengths off the pacesetter. Then approaching the home turn jockey Corey Bayliss asked the mare to improve under the impost of fifty eight and a half kilograms around the outside of the field and she produced a strong finish to haul in her rivals to win in a tight photo finish. The win brought up the mares second victory from only four starts since joining the Guy Stable at the Gold Coast.

Winning co trainer Bryan Guy was unsure if the mare had arrived in time but was thankful when the number went in the frame “I was unsure if she had won and watching the slow motion replay to the line I actually thought that it may have been a dead heat but I am happy that the bob went our way and that win was much better then it may have looked, she had top weight, a wide barrier and she gave them a start and a beating.”

Winning jockey Corey Bayliss thought that the result was never in doubt and was confident that he had the field covered along way from home “she felt like she always had them covered and I was more then happy with where I was in running and the feel that I was getting and when I asked her for an effort she really let down, it was an impressive win. She gave me the feel today that she is looking for further so I am sure Bryan and Daniel will win more races with her.”

Co trainer Daniel Guy was thankful that the mare had been sent north after racing without much luck down south “Dad and I are very thankful that the owners sent her north and it’s great we have been able to repay them with two wins from four starts. We gave her a chance at a couple of better races but they have been on small tracks in large fields and given her racing pattern you always need luck and she didn’t get much of that but back in class and onto a big track we were able to see what she is capable of, a good win with a big weight and by the way that she won it won’t be her last victory.”
