Robbers Cobber continued his winning run today at the newly named Aquis Park at the Gold Coast Turf Club in taking out the Divine Prophet Class Three Handicap. The son of Star Witness has struck form since being stepped up to the middle distance range and todays win indicated that a further step up will not be a problem. Jumping from a good barrier Robbers Cobber was given a perfect run in transit by jockey Matthew McGuren before letting down well when asked for his effort. The most impressive part of his win was the determination he showed when headed half way up the straight before regaining the upper hand and drawing away for a nice victory.

Winning co trainer Bryan Guy was pleased to bring up the hat trick of wins and explained that the horse had been a work in progress but his recent good form was reward for his patient owners “That was a strong win today, he was up in class and still had the tenacity to fight back and win. I am so happy for the Bain Family as their patience is being rewarded. He is a nice staying prospect and as everybody knows a stayer is worth their weight in gold.”

Matthew McGuren who took over from the injured Dan Griffin rode Robbers Cobber in today’s event and the ride was all class. Jockey McGuren was happy with the win but what he was impressed most about was the fight that the horse showed when asked to do so “Tough, Tough win that was today he was headed half way up the straight but fought like a caged tiger to get back to the lead. He is a nice staying type on the improve and there is still improvement in him mentally.”

Robbers Cobber will now continue his step up in class and head towards a no metropolitan win race over today’s distance at the Gold Coast’s upcoming metropolitan meeting which coincidentally will be the first metropolitan meeting at the newly named Aquis Park.
