THINK LIKE A BIRD LANDS IN THE WINNERS STALL
May 30, 2018
Think Like A Bird headed to Ipswich today having her third start for Team Guy and looking to make amends for her unlucky defeat at her previous start at the Gold Coast. The well breed daughter of So You Think was sent out a $3.50 favourite in the Ipswich Cup Infield Festival Class 3 Plate over 1710 metres and didn’t disappoint her supporters by scoring an easy Two and a Quarter length victory with Paul Hammersley in the saddle. Think Like A Bird was able to obtain a perfect run in the early stages after beginning well and settled just off the speed before being asked for her effort by the jockey approaching the home turn to show an impressive turn of foot upon entering the straight to go to the line under little pressure.
Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy was a relieved man after thinking the mare could win at her most recent run “We thought she would be very hard to beat last start but things just didn’t work out. She got to the front too far from home at the Coast and was left a sitting duck and was beaten by a mare with not a bad record so we knew a win was just around the corner.”
Winning Jockey Paul Hammersley felt that the race was well within his keeping a long way from home and explained after the event that she will be even better suited on a bigger track “That was an easy win today she was going to win a long way from home. Bryan and Daniel said to sit her midfield one off the fence and give her room to make her run and she will show a good turn of foot, and she well and truly did that. She is a nice mare who has plenty of upside.”
Think Like A Bird is owned by a new client to the Guy Stable and winning Co Trainer Daniel Guy was quick to thank a rival interstate trainer for their part in the mare arriving at the Guy Stables “Dad and I have to say a big thanks to Team Hawkes who recommended us to the mares owners Mr & Mrs Crosby. We have been rivals and friends with the Hawkes family since they arrived in Sydney many years ago and it’s always nice when a fellow trainer recommends your stable to one of their clients. She is a big strong mare who came up well educated and hopefully now she can put a few wins together for her owners.”
