EL SHADAY FIRST OUT AND FIRST HOME

Jun 16, 2018

El Shaday headed to Aquis Park at the Gold Coast Turf Club today looking to atone for his narrow defeat last start and the son of Pins was able to score an all the way win after beginning brilliantly from a wide barrier to take out the Mitek Australia Class 2 Handicap. El Shaday was stepping up to 1400 metres for the first time since joining the Guy Stable after a recent 1200 metre second placing and the stable gave him a great chance given that his form has been top notch with him only finishing out of the prize money on one occasion from four starts.

Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy was happy with the horses effort today and the fact that his form has been very consistent since joining the stable “ That was a good win today and it’s great to see the horse holding his form so well. That’s his fifth run for the stable for two wins a second and a third and the only time he was unplaced was on a heavy track, which he didn’t handle. He has been a nice pickup for the stable and should be able to win a midweek metro race or better if he continues to hold his form.”

El Shaday was ridden by Ryan Plumb who was having his first ride on the gelding and the pre race plan came off with the horse being able to clear the field soon after jumping and take control of the race from that point on “I spoke to Bryan, Daniel and the owners before the race and we all thought the race lacked speed on paper so I was happy when the instructions were to go forward. After jumping so well it was just a matter of getting him to settle and he relaxed enough through the middle stages of the race to give me a kick in the straight when asked and had enough to hold off his rivals, it was a nice win and I there are more wins left in him.”

El Shaday provided another winner for the Bain Family whom have been in the winners circle on a few occasions of late and Co Trainer Daniel Guy thanked them for their continued support “That brings up another winner for Bill and Lyn which is great, they are good supporters of our stable so it’s great to keep a smile on their faces and prize money flowing into their pockets.”
