EL SHADAY MAKES IT BACK-TO-BACK WINS
Jun 27, 2018
El Shaday headed to Doomben today looking for back-to-back wins and didn’t disappoint with a dominant all the way win. The son of Pins has always shown ability but since joining Team Guy his form has gone to another level taking his record to three wins, a second and a third from six starts for the Gold Coast based stable. Drawing the inside barrier El Shaday was able to assert the leading position in the early stages of the race and was then able to kick clear at the top of the straight to record a length and a quarter victory.
Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy confessed after the event that he was concerned going into today’s race due to the light but persistent rain that had fallen during the race meeting “I was worried about how wet the track was becoming race by race, the only time he has finished out of a place since joining us was on a heavy track but thankfully the track held up well today and he was able to get the money. He has been a good find for the stable and by the way he is going this wasn’t his last win.”
El Shaday was ridden today by Paul Hammersley who finished a close second on the gelding two starts ago when he drew a wide barrier and he was looking to atone for that defeat “He looked like my best ride today from the good barrier because he should have won 2 starts back and given any type of luck he was always going to be hard to beat today. He is in a happy place at the moment and I see no reason why he can’t continue on his winning way.”
El Shaday continued the good run for his owners Bill and Lyn Bain whom have been frequent visitors to the winners stall of late and Co Trainer Daniel Guy thanked them for their continued support along with the efforts of the stable staff, farrier and vet “It’s great to land another winner for Bill and Lyn and they really deserve it with this horse because he has had his issues and they have remained positive and are finally reaping the rewards. This win will also give the staff a big kick because along with the farrier and the vet we have all worked as a team to keep him together and in winning form.”
