SIZZLEPEL TO HOT FOR HER RIVALS TODAY

Apr 19, 2020

Sizzlepel headed to Ipswich today looking to improve on her solid debut run and the daughter of Sizzling lived up to expectations with a solid victory in the Schweppes Two Year Old Maiden Handicap. The race was all but over when the filly took up the early running and jockey Glen Colless was able to control the speed and when he asked her to quicken approaching the home turn she responded and put a gap in her rivals to score by Two and a Half lengths.

Sizzlepel will now head to the paddock for a well earned break with Co Trainer Bryan Guy commentating on the toughness of the filly “she is off to the paddock now she has been in work for a while, she came straight from the breakers so to get her to a trial let alone two race starts and a win speaks volumes for how tough she is. She has improved every time we asked her to, which is a good sign and I am looking forward to her next prep when she matures.”

A positive move out of the barriers by Jockey Glen Colless set up the easy victory with the filly taking the early lead and controlling the event from that point “Bryan and Daniel said to be positive out of the barriers and ride her my race from then on and when nobody wanted to lead I took her to the front and she travelled sweetly and gave a good kick when asked. I think she will win more races with a bit of maturity.”

Sizzlepel is raced by a big group of owners and Co Trainer Daniel Guy thanked them for their support “It’s great to see this filly win today for the big group of owners many of which were in a filly that got hurt in the paddock and was retired so it’s great they backed up and race Sizzlepel. Also my sister and her friend are in the horse and she races in the family racing colours which have been winning races since the 1960’s. Basil Nolan also deserves a big thanks for giving us the opportunity to lease the filly and it looks like we are in for a bit of fun with her.”
