MOMENTUM TO WIN BRINGS UP DOUBLE FOR TEAM GUY

Jun 06, 2020

Momentum To Win shrugged off the non winner title today in style with a strong front running performance to take out the Dubious @ Aquis In 2020 Class Three Handicap over 1800 metres. The son of Animal Kingdom had gained a reputation of not liking the winners stall but that was well and truly put paid to after the gelding made a daring midrace move to race to the front and then held on well to score by an ever widening margin of one and a half lengths.

Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy was a little bit surprised when Momentum To Win took up the running in the back straight and was worried going on previous efforts that he may end up being the bridesmaid again but the gelding showed great resilience to not only hold off his rivals but to pull away from them to score an impressive victory “That was very good for him to win like that today it will do his confidence the world of good, I must admit I was worried when Dan took up the front running so far from home but he knew what he was doing.”

Dan Griffin who had ridden Momentum To Win explained after the race that the gelding seems a different horse this prep after recording his best victory to date “I have ridden him in the past and he wasn’t one to show a great deal of fight but today he showed plenty. It was not ideal making the midrace move but I felt it was better to keep him out of trouble and make them chase us and thankfully I got it right, it was a good strong effort”

It was a win that was pleasing for Co Trainer Daniel Guy who has always had a lot of time for the horse and there was no one happier when he crossed the line in first position “That was great not only for the stable but for his owner who has been patient with him seeing he has run a fair few placing’s and only winning three before today. Also I don’t know why but he is one of my favourite horses and it gives me great pleasure to see him win another race, hopefully he can put a few more wins on the board.”
