Sidero Star broke his maiden today at Ipswich and in doing so brought up Bryan and Daniel Guy’s first officially winner. While the team has been working together for the past 18 years they officially formed a training partnership earlier this month. Bryan commented after today’s win that it was great to finally get the monkey off the back and land the elusive first winner after only a limited number of runners “We had to wait a little longer then we would have liked but today was great to see Daniel’s name listed next to mine in the winners circle and to train another winner for Gil and Marie Neilan was also great, as they were the first Queensland owners to give me a horse when I moved to the Gold Coast and have been loyal owners to the stable ever since”.

Sidero Star the son of Sidereus has always promised to win a race with his early 2yo form indicating that when the races increased in distance he would be better suited. Co trainer Daniel Guy commented after the race that the horse has always looked like a miler from day one and every jockey that has ridden him has stated that “I remember when Paul rode him at his first start he came in and said that he can’t wait to see the horse over a mile and while its taken a little longer then we would have liked, patience has paid off” Both Bryan and Daniel also praised Paul Hammersley for his ride today with a bold move not long after the start being the decisive decision that won the race.
