Consistent mare Watched broke her maiden today at Ipswich after a frustrating run of minor placing’s. The daughter of Teofilo broke through at her eighteenth race start to give her patient owners an overdue win. The win was a strong win with the mare being caught wide for the first eight hundred meters of the race before jockey Paul Hammersley made a race winning move letting the mare stroll forward to sit outside the leader, and then in a brave performance she was able to hold off all challengers to win by a short half head. Bryan was particularly happy after the event commenting “We were getting to the point of thinking that she would never be the bride and always the bridesmaid and I so happy for Jim Forsyth of Amalgamated Milk Services Pty Ltd because he has been so patient with the mare, I suppose our next challenge will be to win a class one with her”
