El Shaday headed to Ipswich today looking to bring up a treble and did so in style after taking out the City Of Ipswich Handicap by a length and a quarter and in doing so took his overall record to Nineteen Starts for Five wins Two seconds and Three thirds. But the son of Pins recent record since joining the Gold Coast stable of Bryan and Daniel Guy has seen the geldings record improve with Four of his Five wins, a Second and a Third with further wins on the horizon.

Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy explained after the event that the horse seems to be going from strength to strength and that the gelding will now be aimed at a stronger race in town “That was another strong win today, it could be argued that he has had soft leads at his last two wins but he was taken on today and was still too strong. He is in a good place at the moment and all going well we are planning to run him next in a No Metropolitan win race on the Fourth of August at Doomben.”

Winning Jockey Paul Hammersley confessed after the event that he was a little concerned about the way the race looked on paper but soon after jumping he knew he had nothing to worry about “Bryan, Daniel and I all thought that the race might pan out different from the way it did so our original plan was to bounce him out of the barriers and make the two on paper leaders work if they wanted to lead us and take a sit but when Jeff Lloyd took the sit it left me in front on the fence. But all credit to the horse because he still didn’t have an easy lead and really let down when I asked him for an effort.”

El Shaday continues the good run for both Team Guy and the Bain family who own El Shaday and winning Co Trainer Daniel Guy was quick to thank the owners and praise staff for their behind the scenes efforts “I have to thank Bill and Lyn Bain for their continued support we have been having a bit of luck for them of late which is good because they have shown faith in the stable. Also the improvement in El Shaday and other horses shows that the stable staff are doing a great job alongside our work riders, farrier, chiropractor and vets we are working as a team and it is paying dividends for our clients.”
