With week one down since the record prize money increase in Queensland the benefits of these increases are now clear for all to see. These increases have returns more funds to more participants then ever before and has made Queensland a more attractive and cost effective place to race horses. With prize money now being paid down to tenth placing the costs associated with racing a horse are now being offset by many of these increases. Using my stable as an example with limited runners in the first week owners of all my horses took home a prize money cheque which has taken much of the financial burden off sending a horse to the races. Also with the increase in provincial and mid week metropolitan prize money the Queensland Industry is now closing the gap on our Southern rivals.
Another benefit of racing horses in the Sunshine State is on average costs associated with training a horse are lower then the Southern States so increased prize money and lower costs, it really is a win, win situation. Past experience also shows that sending a horse north will either give it a new lease on life or even unlock that yet to be discovered potential. Personally I have experienced both of these situations on many occasions with horses like Eagle Way (Maiden to a Group One Derby Winner in Eight Months), Solar Patch (One start for One Win then sent to Hong Kong) Volkoff (Multiple City Wins) Sweet Adaline (Class One to Class Three and placed on several occasions in Saturday Class) and Beyonce Star (average Sydney City to Stakes Winner and Multiple Stakes Placings) these are just to name a few. So if you are thinking that a change of environment might be good for your horse please consider sending it to Queensland and to my stable because as you can see the benefits are plentiful.
