Mocial Chief continued the good run that Team Guy are having this month when he took out the Sirromet Maiden Handicap at only his second start for the stable. The gelding also made it two wins in two days for the Team Guy and Michael Rodd combination who are picking up where they left off many years ago. Mocial Chief recently joined the stable after his owner was advised to give the horse to Team Guy by a long time client, which ironically gave Michael Rodd his first winner all those years ago.

Bryan Guy who makes up half of the Team Guy Partnership was thrilled to have scored with the son of Press Statement at only his second start for the Gold Coast based stable “It’s great to get that win as quickly as we did, he came up from Sydney in good order so it was just a matter of figuring the horse out and finding the right race for him and today everything fell into place. Also the agent that recommended us to the owner has been a good client to the stable over a long period and he actually owned Michael’s first ever winner so it’s great we could all get in the winners stall again today.”

Mocial Chief was ridden today by jockey Michael Rodd who commented upon dismounting that he believes the horse still has a lot to learn but does have ability “I think you will see in time a horse that will mature into a nice middle distance horse. We probably got to the front too early and he didn’t know how to attack the line but that will come in time, he is only still young and lightly raced and when he figures it all out the owners are going to have a bit of fun.”

Today’s winner is another recent winner for the stable’s large group of Hong Kong based clients and Co Trainer Daniel Guy explained after the event the importance of these clients to the stable “Mocial is another one of our horses that is owned by a Hong Kong based client in fact this is a new client to the stable so it seems that good word is spreading about the stable up in Hong Kong so we must be doing something right. It has been a tough year for the people up in Hong Kong but if we can keep getting them winners and keep them happy then we are happy.”
