Rebel Salute made amends for his unlucky last start defeat when the gelding ploughed through today’s heavy conditions to take out the Racecourse Village Benchmark Seventy Handicap. The well bred son of Deep Field is building a nice record and now takes that record to Three wins and Four placing’s from a total of Eight starts and today’s win shows there is more install for the promising gelding.
Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy went into today’s race with an air of confidence after the horse was unluckily beaten last start and his confidence was well warranted with the gelding saluting by three quarters of a length “He was very unlucky last start when beaten by the barrier and when the draw came out for today’s race I was over the moon. I was a little worried about the heavy track and I am not entirely sure he was happy with the conditions but he got the job done. He is a horse that I have a bit of time for and I feel he will go through his grades.”
Jockey Michael Rodd was happy to make amends for his last start defeat on Rebel Salute and he always felt that the gelding had more to give when he was asked for his effort “It was just the barrier that got him beat last start, it was a huge run and I was confident that he would turn things around. I know Bryan and Daniel like this horse and he is heading in the right direction, he wasn’t happy in the conditions but his class showed and I doubt it’s the last time he finds the winners stall.”
Rebel Salute continues the good run that the Team Guy, Michael Rodd and Orbis Bloodstock combination are enjoying at the moment and Co Trainer Daniel Guy said he hopes the good run continues for the combination “It great to get another winner today for Orbis Bloodstock which are big supporters of the stable and another winner with Michael aboard. Things have been ticking along nicely for the stable and hopefully this keeps going as it’s been a good season thus far and while we don’t have the numbers of many other stables we are still getting winners on a regular basis.”
