HAPPY BABE CONTINUES ON HIS WINNING WAYS

Happy Babe continued on his winning way today at Aquis Park at the Gold Coast Turf Club when he took out the Dulux Projects Earth Class Four Handicap and in doing so breaking the class record. The gelding has been racing well this preparation and today’s win was the fourth win for the horse and continued his good record since joining the Guy stable.

Winning Co Trainer Bryan Guy was a little worried with the way Happy Babe was travelling at the six hundred metre mark but those worries quickly disappeared when the gelding straightened for home “To be honest I was worried with the way he travelled approaching the corner but when he turned for home he picked up the bit and then he picked up the leaders pretty quick and then it was all over. He has been a bit of a find for the stable and Jockey Chris Whiteley is building a good record on him.”

Winning Jockey Chris Whiteley continued his impressive record on the horse which now stands at four rides for three wins and a second placing and the jockey thinks there is more to come “that was a good win and I can’t see any reason why he can’t win again. He is such an honest horse, which gives his all every time he steps out. We are building a good record together and hopefully it will continue.”

Co Trainer Daniel Guy was over the moon with the way Happy Babe continues to progress through the grades and admitted he had early reservations about the horse when Team Guy were asked to train him “I must admit I was a little worried with his form and the bleeding ban he had on him when we were asked to train him but those thoughts didn’t last long once we saw his track work and I must admit Dad has a good record of turning horses around with bad southern form. Dad and I are thankful that the owners gave us the opportunity with the horse and hopefully he continues on his winning way for them.”
